Most people who fly into Jeddah for work arrive with a tight schedule: a morning meeting, a working lunch, maybe a site visit outside the city, and quite often the wish to slip in an Umrah before flying home. This guide is written for exactly that kind of trip. It answers one practical question: how do you move around Jeddah and the region without losing time you don't have?
Before you land: three messages that save an hour
On business trips, most of the lost time happens in the first thirty minutes after landing. Send us these details on WhatsApp at least a day ahead:
- Flight number and arrival time, so the driver can track the flight and adjust if it is early or late.
- The name for the sign, especially if the traveller is your guest rather than you.
- The exact destination, whether hotel or office, ideally with a map pin.
Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign, and you get 60 minutes of free waiting after landing, which normally covers passport control and baggage. You can read more about our Jeddah airport taxi service before booking.
How a working day runs in Jeddah
The official working week in Saudi Arabia is Sunday to Thursday, with Friday and Saturday as the weekend, although some private companies keep partial hours on Saturday. Jeddah is a long city stretched along the Red Sea coast. That means the time to reach a meeting depends more on the hour you leave than on the kilometres involved.
- Peak traffic: the morning commute, the mid-afternoon end of office hours, and evenings on roads leading to the Corniche and the big malls.
- Prayer times: many offices and shops pause briefly at each prayer, so avoid starting an important meeting right before the call to prayer.
- Buffer: add half an hour to your phone's estimate when the appointment really matters.
Choosing the right car for the job
| Situation | Suggested vehicle | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One or two travellers with carry-on bags | Sedan | Economical and easy in city traffic |
| A delegation of three to six with luggage or samples | Family SUV / van | Everyone and everything in one vehicle |
| Collecting an important client or official guest | VIP | A proper first impression and more privacy |
See the available categories on our fleet page.
Fixed fares make expense claims easy
Every fare is per car, not per passenger, agreed before the trip and paid on arrival, with no prepayment for normal bookings. That keeps your expense report simple. These are the routes business travellers ask about most (prices in SAR):
| Route | Sedan | Family | VIP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jeddah Airport to Jeddah hotels | 150 | 250 | 500 |
| Between Jeddah districts | 100 | 200 | 300 |
| Jeddah to Jeddah train station | 100 | 200 | 300 |
| Jeddah to Makkah | 200 | 350 | 600 |
| Jeddah to Madinah | 500 | 700 | 1000 |
| Jeddah to Taif (round trip) | 500 | 700 | 1000 |
Every other route is listed in our taxi fare guide.
Fitting Umrah or Madinah into the schedule
Many visitors keep one day free of meetings for Umrah. Makkah is roughly 80 km from Jeddah, usually an hour to an hour and a quarter depending on where you start and the traffic. If you will leave from your Jeddah hotel, have a look at our taxi from Jeddah to Makkah page. A practical note: someone already staying in Jeddah who decides to perform Umrah from there enters ihram where they are. Arriving by air straight into Umrah is different, since ihram is entered at or before the miqat.
To pray at the Prophet's Mosque, Madinah is about 420 km from Jeddah, around four and a half hours by road. The Haramain train is a quick alternative, and we can drop you at the station if you prefer it.
Meetings outside the city
If you have an appointment in King Abdullah Economic City north of Jeddah, or a meeting up in Taif, booking a round trip or a car for the day is usually better than two separate rides, because nobody wants to wait for a car when a meeting ends early. Send us your start time and expected finish and we'll confirm the fare on WhatsApp.
Questions business travellers ask
Can a driver meet a guest on behalf of my company?
Yes. Send the guest's name, flight number and, if possible, phone number. The driver will hold a sign with that name in arrivals and take them wherever you specify.
What if the flight is two hours late?
The driver follows the flight and turns up for the actual landing time, not the scheduled one. The 60 free minutes start after touchdown.
Do you operate late at night?
Yes, bookings and rides run 24/7, which matters because a lot of international flights land in Jeddah after midnight.
How do I book several rides in one day?
Send the list of appointments and addresses in order on WhatsApp. We'll suggest separate rides or a car for a set period and confirm the price before the day starts.
Book before you pack
