Getting around Makkah follows its own rules
Anyone who visits Makkah soon learns that its traffic works like no other city's. The area around Masjid al-Haram runs on a traffic plan that shifts with prayer times and seasons, and some streets close completely on Ramadan nights and Fridays. So the Makkah taxi you need is not just a car; it is a driver who knows where to get in, where to stop, and when waiting is smarter than trying.
We provide private cars with drivers in Makkah for pilgrims, visitors and residents, at a fixed fare you know before you get in, booked on WhatsApp at any hour. If you have not reached Makkah yet and need a car from the airport, see our page on the Jeddah Airport to Haram transfer.
Four reasons visitors need a car in Makkah
1. Hotel to Haram and back
If your hotel is in Al Aziziyah, Al Shawqiyah, Al Naseem or Kudai, walking to the Haram is not realistic for older travellers or families with small children. We take you from the hotel door to the closest permitted point to Masjid al-Haram, from 80 SAR in a sedan. For the return we agree a meeting spot with you in advance, because getting away from the Haram after the big prayers takes patience and a plan.
2. A further Umrah from Al Taneem or Al Jiranah
Someone already in Makkah who wants to perform another Umrah goes out beyond the sanctuary boundary to enter ihram, and the nearest place is Masjid Aisha at Al Taneem. We drive you there; if you want the driver to wait while you wash, change into ihram and pray, then bring you back to the Haram, say so when booking and we confirm the full price. Some visitors prefer Al Jiranah, which is a little further out.
3. Ziyarat and the holy sites
The ziyarat tour is one of the most requested trips: Jabal al-Nour and the Cave of Hira, Jabal Thawr, then a drive through Mina, Muzdalifah and Arafat with Jabal al-Rahmah. It usually takes a few hours, and the driver stops at each site for as long as you like. Going early in the morning, before the heat builds, is best.
4. Leaving Makkah
When your stay ends we take you to Jeddah Airport, to Jeddah city, to the Haramain train station in Makkah, or straight to Madinah. For airport runs we work out when to leave your hotel from your departure time and that day's road conditions.

Helping your driver find you
The big hotels around the Haram have several entrances, and some stand in adjoining towers that are hard to tell apart. To avoid waiting around:
- Send the hotel name exactly as it appears on your booking, plus a map pin if you can.
- If the road outside your hotel is closed, the driver will suggest a nearby point a car can reach; agree on it shortly before pickup time.
- At peak times, book well before or well after a prayer, not for the moment the crowds come out.
- If you are travelling with an elderly person or a wheelchair, tell us so we can choose a closer stopping point and a better-suited car.
How the seasons affect your trips
The last ten nights of Ramadan are Makkah at its busiest, and the closures around the Haram widen. Book early on those days and expect the drop-off point to be a little further away than usual. School holidays and weekends also push up demand, particularly for family cars, so do not leave booking to the last minute.
Questions Makkah visitors often ask
Will the car stop right at the Haram gate?
Cars cannot enter the courtyards, but the driver takes you to the nearest permitted point and you walk the rest in a few minutes.
Can I keep a car for half a day in Makkah?
Yes. If you have several stops, say Al Taneem, then some shopping, then back to the Haram, we can arrange the car for a set number of hours and quote you on WhatsApp.
How long is the drive from Makkah to Jeddah Airport?
About an hour to an hour and a quarter in normal conditions, but we suggest leaving around four hours before an international departure.
