From the arrivals hall to Masjid al-Haram: how the ride works
Most pilgrims flying in for Umrah land at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, and the first question after passport control is how to reach the Haram quickly and comfortably. Our Jeddah Airport to Haram transfer is built around exactly that: getting you to your hotel next to Masjid al-Haram with no waiting, no haggling and no guessing about roads.
It starts with one WhatsApp message before you travel. We note your flight number, passengers, bags and hotel. On arrival day we track the flight and move the pickup time if it lands early or late. After landing you get a full free hour for passport control and baggage, then your driver meets you in arrivals with a name sign.
The road from the airport to Makkah
Drivers take the Jeddah–Makkah expressway; the airport is roughly 100 km from the Haram area. In normal traffic the drive takes 60 to 75 minutes. In peak periods — the last ten nights of Ramadan, school holidays and Thursday nights — expect extra time at the Makkah entrances.
Where exactly will you be dropped?
The area around Masjid al-Haram has its own traffic rules: cars do not enter the courtyards, and some streets close at busy prayer times and during Ramadan. We handle the Haram drop-off like this:
- Hotel in the central area (Abraj Al Bait, Jabal Omar, Ajyad, Al Shubaika): we take you to the hotel entrance or its drop-off zone.
- Roads to the hotel closed: your driver stops at the closest permitted point and helps with the bags; the remaining walk is usually short.
- Hotel further out (Al Aziziyah, Al Naseem, Al Shawqiyah): straight to the hotel door with no restrictions.
Tip: send us the hotel name exactly as written on your booking. Large hotels often have entrances on more than one street, and the exact name saves time on arrival.
If you arrive in ihram
Pilgrims intending Umrah enter ihram before the miqat, and air travellers usually do so on the plane. Many of our guests therefore land in Jeddah already in ihram and want to perform Umrah right away. We arrange one of two options in advance:
- Go to the hotel first, drop the bags and rest briefly, then walk to the Haram.
- Get dropped at the nearest point to the Haram if the hotel is very close, with the bags handled by the hotel.
Tell us your preference when booking and we plan the ride around it.
Fares and what is included
| Vehicle | Passengers | Jeddah Airport to Haram |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan | Up to 4 | 200 SAR |
| Family SUV / van | Up to 7 | 350 SAR |
| VIP | Up to 3 | 500 SAR |
Fares are per car, not per person, and include meet & greet, one hour of free waiting and road fees. No prepayment: you pay on arrival.
Taxi or the Haramain train?
The Haramain train works well for a solo traveller with a small bag, but it stops at Makkah station, well away from the Haram, so you still need a car. A private transfer is the better fit for:
- Families with children or elderly relatives.
- Guests with lots of luggage or wheelchairs.
- Late-night and dawn arrivals.
- Anyone who wants to reach the hotel door without changing transport.
