Why a family needs its own car
Anyone who has travelled with elderly parents, three children and six suitcases knows the hard part is not the distance. It is the small things: where to wait, whether the boot will take everything, what happens when the youngest needs a break. Family transport at Mishwar Al Haramain is built around one simple idea: a single car with a driver, booked only for you, leaving when you are ready and stopping when you need it to.
The fare is fixed for the whole car, so it does not change whether you are four people or seven, as long as the vehicle you choose fits everyone. You pay on arrival, and there is no prepayment for normal bookings.
Matching the car to the family
We run three vehicle classes. A practical rule: count the large suitcases before you count the people.
- Sedan: a couple or a small family with two or three bags.
- Family SUV or van: the usual choice for mid-size and larger families, with room for luggage and a folded stroller.
- VIP: for extra comfort on long drives or for guests you want to look after.

What the trip looks like, step by step
- Send the details on WhatsApp: date and time, pickup and drop-off (hotel name or district), adults and children, number of bags, and your flight number for airport pickups.
- We confirm the car and the fare: you get a message with the class and the final amount. Nothing is added later.
- Pickup: at the airport the driver waits in arrivals with a name sign. We track your flight, and you have 60 minutes of free waiting after landing, which is usually plenty to collect bags with children in tow.
- On the road: tell the driver whenever you want to stop for prayer, food or a nappy change.
- Arrival and payment: the driver drops you at the hotel door and you pay on arrival.
Longer drives between cities
The trip families ask for most is the move between the two Holy Mosques. Makkah to Madinah is about 450 km and takes roughly 4.5 to 5 hours, with plenty of service stations for breaks. Tips from real family trips
- Keep a small bag with water, snacks and medicines inside the cabin, not in the boot.
- If an elderly relative uses a wheelchair, mention it when booking so we plan the space.
- If you are entering ihram for Umrah, it is easiest for everyone to change before getting in the car.
- During Ramadan and school holidays, book at least a day ahead; family vehicles are in high demand.

The family class, such as a GMC Yukon or a Toyota Hiace van, seats up to 7 passengers with room for luggage and a folded stroller. A sedan takes up to 4, and the VIP car up to 3.
