Why People Travel From Jazan to Abha
In summer especially, Abha is the obvious escape for anyone living in Jazan: a few hours by car takes you from coastal humidity to mild mountain air. Others go to visit relatives in Asir, catch a flight from Abha, or attend a medical or official appointment. Whatever the reason, Mishwar Al Haramain arranges a private car with a driver that starts at your address in Jazan and ends at your door in Abha or Khamis Mushait.
What the Climb Looks Like
The first stretch crosses the flat Tihamah plain; then the road starts climbing into the Asir highlands through bend after bend, and the temperature drops as you gain height. It is about 200 km and roughly three hours, though the ascent can take longer when there is fog on the upper slopes. Your driver knows the road, keeps a calm pace through the curves and stops whenever you ask.
Best Times to Set Off
- Early morning: you miss the midday heat on the coast and reach Abha in good time for hotel check-in or your plans.
- Late afternoon: good if you want to spend the evening in Abha's cool air, but allow for possible fog around sunset.
- To catch a flight: tell us your departure time and we will suggest a start time with a comfortable margin.

The Fare
The fare is per car, not per passenger, and does not change with traffic or a slow climb. This route is not on our published fare table, so we confirm the price on WhatsApp before you book; you pay on arrival with no prepayment. Choose from a sedan, a family vehicle or VIP, all described on the fleet page.
After You Arrive in Abha
Staying a few days? You may want a car for trips to mountain parks and villages; see Abha taxi. To book the drive back down later, see Abha to Jazan taxi.
What to Pack
You will leave Jazan in light summer clothes, but Abha may greet you with a cool breeze or light rain, especially in the evening. Keep a jacket or shawl in your hand luggage rather than in the big case in the boot. Bring enough water for the first stretch across the Tihamah plain, which is hot for most of the year. If you take travel-sickness medicine, take it before the climb begins, not halfway up.
Long Stay or Short Visit?
Families spending the whole summer in Abha often travel with a lot: clothes, kitchen items and sometimes small appliances. In that case choose the family vehicle and describe your luggage when booking so space is not a surprise. A one- or two-day visit usually fits in a sedan, and you can book the return to Jazan in the same request.
If you plan to move between Abha and Khamis Mushait during your stay, see our Khamis Mushait taxi page for the options there.
