Madinah to AlUla: a natural extension of your trip
Many visitors end their days in Madinah with a question: can we see AlUla before we go home? Yes. AlUla lies north of Madinah, and the road there is a drive of a few hours through mountains and valleys whose colours shift as the day goes on. Public transport to AlUla is limited, so a private car is the easiest way to go, especially for families and anyone with luggage.
Mishwar Al Haramain picks you up at your Madinah hotel and drops you at your hotel or camp in AlUla, with a fixed fare for the whole car paid on arrival.
Plan the trip like this
Choose your departure time
Leave in the morning after breakfast and you reach AlUla with time to check in, rest, and head out for an afternoon tour once the heat eases. If you prefer to travel after Asr, you arrive in the evening and start your programme the next day.
Know exactly where you are staying
Resorts and camps in AlUla are spread out, and some sit in valleys outside the town. Send us the name and a map pin.
Book site tickets in advance
Visits to Hegra and other heritage sites are usually by ticketed guided tour, so book before you travel and time your arrival around it.
The fare
This route is not in our published price list, so the fare is confirmed on WhatsApp before you book, according to the class. It covers the whole car, so a family of six pays the same as two as long as the vehicle fits everyone, and normal bookings need no prepayment.
| Class | Suits |
|---|---|
| Sedan | A couple or solo traveller |
| Family (SUV or van) | A family with bags; the most comfortable choice for a long road |
| VIP | A private trip with extra comfort |
Before you leave Madinah
- If you have not finished your visits in Madinah, the ziyarat tour (Quba Mosque, Mount Uhud and Wadi Al-Jinn) costs 200 riyals by sedan, 350 by family vehicle and 500 VIP. Getting around the city is covered on Madinah taxi.
- If you plan to return to Makkah after AlUla, see Madinah to Makkah taxi.
- Pack light clothes for the day and something warmer for winter evenings; AlUla nights get cold.
