From beside the Prophet’s Mosque to the Red Sea coast
After a few days of ziyarah in Madinah, some visitors head on to King Abdullah Economic City: they live or work there, they want some days on the coast before flying home, or they are visiting relatives. It is a fairly long trip that crosses the desert and then drops west towards the sea, and a private car with Mishwar Al Haramain saves you from moving bags between several modes of transport. You get in at your hotel door and get out at your own.
Before you book: what we will ask
- Where are you starting? A hotel in the central area around the Prophet’s Mosque, a residential district, or Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport.
- Where exactly in KAEC? The city is spread out, and its districts, resorts and train station are far apart.
- How much luggage? Visitors to Madinah often carry gifts and dates on top of their suitcases, which affects the car size.
- When do you want to arrive? So we can set the right departure time.
Route and duration
The car takes the highway out of Madinah towards the south-west and then joins the coastal road to KAEC. It is a long drive, so plan for several hours on the road with one or two breaks. In summer we suggest leaving after Fajr or after Asr.
Do I need ihram?
If KAEC is your only destination, no ihram is needed for this trip. If you intend to continue to Makkah afterwards for Umrah, the miqat for travellers from Madinah is Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali) as you leave the city, so check your situation with someone knowledgeable you trust, and tell us if you want to stop at the miqat.
