From the Yanbu coast to the Prophet’s Mosque
Yanbu is the closest large coastal city to Madinah, so there is plenty of travel between the two: employees in Yanbu Industrial City visiting the Prophet’s Mosque at weekends, families spending a few days in Madinah, and visitors who fly into Yanbu Airport and continue to Madinah. The distance is about 230 km, and the road heads east from the coast, climbing gradually towards Madinah. Timing the trip
Driving takes roughly two and a half to three hours depending on your pickup point and stops. If you want to make Friday prayer or a particular prayer at the Prophet’s Mosque, tell us so we can set a departure with a comfortable margin, as reaching the central area at major prayer times can take extra time.

There is no ihram on the road from Yanbu to Madinah, as visiting Madinah does not involve entering ihram. Ihram only comes in if you head on to Makkah for Umrah afterwards.
